Waterloo Park has something for everyone

Uptown Waterloo and its amenities include nearby accommodations, shopping, restaurants, parks and green spaces. Located in the Uptown core of Waterloo lies Waterloo's premier park boasting 111 acres of prime parkland with facilities for active and passive recreation.

This "Jewel of the City" has something to offer for everyone; its sensitive mix of active, passive, natural and historical features provides a myriad of opportunities for its visitors to explore. Historic landmarks such as Waterloo's first school house (open 9AM-3PM; June-August), original Farm House, replica structure of the Abraham Erb Grist Mill, Domestic Animal Display and award winning Victorian Gardens are maintained to preserve and educate for years to come about our local heritage.

Famous for its heritage, Victorian Gardens portrays a story from the Victorian Era and has captured the Communities in Bloom national awards with its spectacular floral display. These beautifully maintained flowerbeds feature horticultural plantings, gazebos, heritage perennials, pergola and picnic shelter, new playground and other Victorian era features. The gardens are available to rent for a maximum of 1.5 hours for a fee of $78.46 (incl. GST).

The original gristmill was demolished in 1927, but part of the original fieldstone foundation and an old fireplace remained in place and were covered with mother earth, an invisible monument of the first settler and founder of Waterloo. In 1998 a replica of the gristmill was built and can be seen at the corner of Erb and Caroline Streets just west of the Uptown area. The Gristmill is a highly sought after location for wedding ceremonies and pictures. It is also a popular place to hold meetings. The Gristmill may be booked for a maximum of 3 hours. The Gristmill can be booked for 1.5 hours for a fee of $75.00 (incl. GST).

There are also many beautiful picnic areas throughout Waterloo Park that can be rented out for the day and can accommodate groups of 10 to 1000. Prices for uncovered picnic areas and the Gazebo are $32.29 (incl. GST). The picnic shelter on the west side of the park can be rented for $64.81 (incl. GST) and the servery can be rented for $111.26 (incl. GST).
